I discuss three candid insights about physical therapy that aren't often said out loud. First, I talk about how PTs may be undercharging compared to our actual value, and why we rely on insurance reimbursement rather than direct cash payments like dentists do. Second, I share what I got wrong early in my career: prioritizing being right over building patient rapport, and how what works for an individual patient matters more than what the evidence says works for most people. Finally, I explain how my skills in teaching and sales have made me a better physical therapist, because ultimately, much of what we do is selling patients on our expertise.
