Healthcare organizations are still using outdated communication strategies from the 1990s while the internet, attention spans, and consumer expectations have dramatically changed. Drawing from my experience as a rock radio broadcaster and physical therapist, I explain why authority alone doesn't capture attention—you have to earn it. I share how healthcare professionals often communicate like PDF downloads, losing their audience in the process. The key insight is that attention must come before trust, and if healthcare doesn't learn to communicate clearly and compellingly in 2026, non-clinicians with better marketing will fill that gap.
