Name of the app:
 Run Cadence
Who makes it:
Physical Therapists Chris Johnson & Ben Wobker.
What is their website / where can you find more info about it:
What does the app DO?
Determine your cadence through a 1 minute baseline test just by running the app and then running while holding your iphone. It then allows you to set a target cadence for training and racing. Then it gives you Real Time feedback through a metronome and haptic feature that automatically turns on in the event you fall out of the desired step rate and turns off once you adopt the desired step rate.
Any cool features? Little things that make it awesome:
The reasoning behind this is in FULL including citations and links of course, at their website RunCadance.net but the jist of it is there’s research to support that changing running cadence (or generally your steps per minute while running) can decrease running related injuries at the hip, knee, shin, ankle and foot.
INCREASING CADENCE WHILE KEEPING RUNNING VELOCITY CONSTANT IS AN EASY WAY TO HELP RUNNERS REDUCE THEIR STEP LENGTH, WHICH AFFORDS DISTINCT BENEFITS IN ADDRESSING COMMON RUNNING RELATED INJURIES A 5% INCREASE IN STEP RATE LEADS TO A 20% REDUCTION IN ENERGY ABSORPTION AT THE KNEE
What platforms does it run on:
 iPhone only
What does it cost:
 2.99
Does it make your life easier as a PT?
Yes, a great suggestion to a patient who’s a runner looking to reduce stress on the LE.  For me personally it’s well worth $2.99 to help me run with reduced force on my body. I like the external cues of the metronome (and yes you can still play your music in the background while using this… that was a BIG plus for me!)
How many beers does it get (out of a 6-pack): 5.5 / 6
